Modernist architecture at an affordable price! This unique arcadia area design by noted architect and professor, Cal Straub is a rare find indeed! This comfortable 3 br plan offers a great indoor/outdoor relationship, clerestory and casement windows, a completely updated gourmet kitchen with maple cabinets, stainless steel details and appliances, Dacor/Bosch appliances, select granite counters. Large yard has pool and room for expansion if desired. The home has timeless, original baths, updated maple and brick flooring, intimate courtyards. Cast concrete and custom stoneware tiles surround the fireplace. Some restoration is needed but the house is original, intact and ready to move in. This will not last!
Calvin Straub maintained a successful practice in California, taught at the University of Southern California and joined the ASU faculty in 1961, where he retired from in 1988. His long and celebrated career left us a legacy of approximately fifty homes. He is widely recognized for his significant contributions to American Modernist Architecture. He is remembered as one of the architects for Case Study House #20, and must be considered as a pioneer in Modernist Architecture.
Straub’s architectural philosophy reflected place, culture, and climate-appropriate designs that stress structure, function and simplicity of form. Known for mostly residential projects, Straub’s design activities in both Arizona and California earned him more than thirty awards during his professional career.
Truly a case-study pioneer, his Modernist Architecture ethic shows in this classic MCM design. A perfect setting for your Eames era collection of furniture!
It is highly unusual to have an offering by such a significant architect available in such a wonderful location at an affordable price. We must emphasize the unique opportunity this is to purchase a true, custom, mid-century gem as this home! Modernist Architecture with a case-study heritage make this home a keeper…
