Description

ICONIC Mid-century Modern impeccably restored to era! This Custom Model “HOME OF THE FUTURE” on John F. Long’s street of dreams expresses true Modernism. Featured in McCall’s Magazine in 1964 as Futuristic and in Phoenix Home and Garden’s 2012 edition as Timeless, it delivers on both promises. A group of 21 forward-thinking women came together and dared to help create the “perfect future contemporary home” which included loads of storage, a large kitchen in the heart of the home with backyard access, great split floor plan, oversized family/great room, light and overhangs for shade on windows, courtyards and more. These intelligent ideas are as relevant in our building standards today as they were boundary-pushing in the 1960’s. Renowned architect Fred Fleenor well known for his mark on The Kerr Cultural Center and more, brought their ideas to life in this classic piece of design and beauty. With clerestory windows throughout, exposed adobe and cedar board and batten ceiling structures this home echoes our desert as well as the post war era with it’s play on light and line. You simply do not want to miss the magic in this very special piece of architecture.
