Calvin Straub maintained a successful practice in California, taught at the University of Southern California and joined the ASU faculty in 1961, where he retired from in 1988. His long and celebrated career left us a legacy of approximately fifty homes. He is widely recognized for his significant contributions to American Modernist Architecture. He is remembered as one of the architects for Case Study House #20, and must be considered as a pioneer in Modernist Architecture.
Straub’s architectural philosophy reflected place, culture, and climate-appropriate designs that stress structure, function and simplicity of form. Known for mostly residential projects, Straub’s design activities in both Arizona and California earned him more than thirty awards during his professional career.
Truly a case-study pioneer, his Modernist Architecture ethic shows in this classic MCM design. A perfect setting for your Eames era collection of furniture!
