Some homes still exist in the Homestead, with a few featuring the original “sod” roofs. Although many have been “updated,” it’s definitely worth a Sunday stroll through the neighborhood to see the original adobe and picture how life would have been. You’ll probably even meet some long-time residents as they sit in their lawns under a shade tree. Some things haven’t changed.
