Architectural Details: The floor plan uses a 4-foot square unit and is rotated 45 degrees to the north-south axis, which was carefully lined up with Mummy Mountain.
The plan allows for gracious living and personal privacy: The great room and master suite face south with shaded patios overlooking the central garden and the reflection pool. The great room, kitchen dining, master suite, indoor pool, spa and therapy pool form one wing of the house while the smaller wing is made up of guestrooms.
The dramatic standing seam metal roof with its triangular ends, cantilever over the garden walls, enclosing a private garden space. Geometry organizes the space for harmony and interest: the triangle theme is further carried into the interior of the house in the form of triangle zinc inlays in the terrazzo floor forming a connection between the outdoor and the indoor. Attention to detail by these talented architects is superb.
Organic Design Workshop also designed the entrance gate and fence, the entrance door, fireplace and fascia unique to this home, using the triangle as the central geometric theme making the various parts of the house integrate to belong to the whole. Top quality glazing and lasting, concrete block construction were selected for security and strength.
Just as Taliesin West appears to grow out of the desert. The architects worked to to achieve the same effect with this cutting estate home.
Originally named for the first owners, The Rosenthal Home was also chosen to be part of the ” Frank Lloyd Wright Heritage Exhibit ” which travelled to Moscow and additional European countries.
